Turn on dishwasher in kitchen to preheat
Follow instructions on the wall above the dishwasher.
Turn on zip/water heater above the sink.
Set the space out how you want it:
Arrange cushions, chairs etc. There’s a layout on the noticeboard by the auditorium doors.
Power up everything:
lights (there's a little white remote by the front right TV that turns the spotlights on and off)
Heatpumps in both auditorium and hall: 22°C auto in summer, 24°C auto in winter
Sometimes the speakers are turned off—check the little green light on the front of them and if it’s off, then the switch is on back top left if you’re facing the speaker.
Open up church’s door by around 9:45am
Open them wide and hook to the wall. Make sure children's safety door is shut.
Put the sandwich board sign on the footpath as close to gutter as possible
Look after the flow of the service:
Use a written order of service with all the slots on and note which bits are yours to do. See further notes below.
You can arrange for someone else to do this, just make sure they know what to do. Please check very carefully that all everything is off, dishwasher off, and all doors are locked.
Make sure power switches are off:
power-off anything you turned on before the service.
check lights in all toilets
Exit procedure:
Heatpumps are off
Candles blown out
Main TV and side TVs are off
Close all windows
Set up the main data projection:
(Powerpoint) for the service (usually with blank slides for notices etc) Try and get slides provided beforehand via email or whatever, USB sticks on Sunday mornings are awful to deal with 5 minutes before the service starts!
Pre-service:
Light the main candle and the large candle in the sand-tray at the back. Matches are in perspex box by hymn books at entrance. Feel free to show an interesting artistic video up to 10:05 am.
Use an ‘Order of Service’
This is really important to keep track of things (there’s one in the Master Year Planner in a different sheet at the bottom). Once you get the hang of things, it’s possible to rely on the data projection
Set the Scene
Select some recorded music (or live) to play as people arrive, leave—this is actually important to set the mood.
Access to upstairs:
Key for upstairs is hanging on a wire in the double cupboards halfway up the stairs
We are no longer setting the alarm
Key for office is just behind the ladder to the right of the office door. Anyone can use the copier.
