Turn on dishwasher in kitchen to preheat
Follow instructions on the wall above the dishwasher.
Turn on zip/water heater above the sink.
Prepare the parent’s room:
Turn on the heater (if needed)
Turn on speaker at wall
Turn on light
Set the space out how you want it:
Arrange cushions, chairs etc (you will have to put it back to how you found it after though). There's a layout on the noticeboard by the auditorium doors.
Power up everything:
lights
heaters (if needed),
fans (if needed),
video/audio equipment 9behind sound desk at bottom right. Turn all switches on at the wall)
Sometimes the speakers are turned off—check the little green light on the front of them and if it’s off, then the switch is top right if you’re facing the speaker.
Unlock toilet door at top of wee steps in auditorium:
Toilets are available at the top of the stairs through to Children’s Space. They need to be unlocked before the service.
Open up churchs door by around 9:45am
Open them wide and hook to the wall. Make sure children's safety door is shut.
Look after the flow of the service:
Use a written order of service with all the slots on and note which bits are yours to do. See further notes below.
You can arrange for someone else to do this, just make sure they know what to do. Please check very carefully that all everything is off, dishwasher off, and all doors are locked.
Make sure power switches are off:
Except the plug by the piano stays on to keep the piano dry—don't worry about turning desk switches off
power-off anything you turned on before the service.
check lights in all toilets
Lock all doors:
Include both sides of church foyer, the hall and kitchen doors, the external door to Mt Eden Rd by the Children's Space foyer. Lock the door between the toilets and the auditorium foyer (the lock is by your right foot).
Set up the main data projection:
(Powerpoint) for the service (usually with blank slides for notices etc) Try and get slides provided beforehand via email or whatever, USB sticks on Sunday mornings are awful to deal with 5 minutes before the service starts!
Pre-service:
Light the main candle and the large candle in the sand-tray at the back. Matches are in perspex box by hymn books at entrance.
Use an ‘Order of Service’
This is really important to keep track of things (there’s one in the Master Year Planner in a different sheet at the bottom). Once you get the hang of things, it’s possible to rely on the data projection
Set the Scene
Select some recorded music (or live) to play as people arrive, leave—this is actually important to set the mood.
Access to upstairs:
Key for upstairs is hanging on a wire in the double cupboards halfway up the stairs
